Our virtual in-house counsel subscription service is designed to suit your business, whatever its size.
Whether you need to cover a gap in your existing legal team or you don’t have an in-house counsel at all; whether you need a few hours a month or an entire week, we can customise a package to suit your needs.
ON-DEMAND
You will have a specialist lawyer dedicated to your business on-demand for an agreed number of days or hours per month. You can draw down on your bank of hours as needed throughout the month.
Your lawyer can be contacted by email, phone or Skype and is available for face-to-face meetings if required, depending on location. Calls and meetings are scheduled according to availability.
COMPETITIVE RATES
As we are a virtual law firm our overheads are low. That’s why we can offer highly competitive rates, below market. Our subscription services offer even greater value. We use a sliding scale of rates, so the more hours you need, the lower the rate. Plus, if you exceed your monthly hours, as a subscriber, you have access to a discounted rate for additional services.

We regularly monitor and review our services, providing safeguards for both you and us to ensure there is no over or under resourcing. Subscriptions are month-to-month. You are free to increase or decrease your monthly hours to meet your changing business needs over time.

WHAT IS THE BENEFIT OF VIRTUAL IN-HOUSE COUNSEL?
There are so many benefits. You will have access to the expertise of a lawyer with previous in-house experience. It is cost-effective. You will only pay for what you need, instead of hiring a full-time resource who may not be fully utilised. This also means no additional expenses for employee entitlements - you don’t pay for sick leave, annual leave or other unavailability. You will pay a very competitive rate, compared to engaging a traditional law firm. The services are on-demand, so you can get ahead of legal issues as they arise, instead of waiting for them to become problems.
WHAT TYPES OF SERVICES CAN I USE MY HOURS ON?
You can use your monthly hours for any of our services within our practice areas. Your virtual in-house counsel can:
respond to your legal enquiries as they arise;
provide detailed advice on legal issues of concern to your business;
create new contracts and templates for your business;
review existing contracts or templates; and
work on special legal projects for you.
WHAT IS THE COST?
The monthly charge depends on the subscription package chosen. The larger the package, the lower the hourly rate. Packages will be customised to your needs but start at a minimum of 4 hours per month at a charge of $1,100 (incl. GST) per month. Compared to traditional law firm fees of $500 + GST per hour (for lawyers of comparable experience) this is a significant saving.
You may wish to consider a fully customised package offering even more flexibility, completely free of the hourly rate. The package may be comprised of, for example:
UNLIMITED email, phone and Skype inquiries
1 onsite day per month
up to 10 pages of document review
1 special legal project per month

WHAT IF MY NEEDS CHANGE?
We are all about flexibility at Clearly Legal and you will not be locked into our subscriptions. Our subscriptions are month-to-month, so you are free to change subscriptions at the end of each month (subject to availability if you wish to increase hours) or cancel with 14 days’ notice.
WHAT IF I NEED MORE HOURS?
We understand the needs of your business are likely to fluctuate over time. If you need additional hours in any given month, we can provide additional hours, subject to availability, at a discount off our usual rates. Alternatively, you may wish to engage us on a fixed-fee basis if there is a project you need us to work on in addition to your usual monthly hours.
